CASTING PRACTICES
We look for stories and scripts that reflect the authentic concerns, essential human questions and the experience of our youth.
The scripts we choose will dictate how each show is cast.
Open casting practices will be used, unless specific characteristics are essential to a role within the story. This allows for
1. Actors to take on roles not traditionally associated with their own identities;
2. Productions to challenge stereotypes and encourage empathy building and open dialogue within the cast;
3. Audiences to expand their understanding of the story
Specific Representation: As we intentionally seek out under-represented stories we'll invite youth, directors and educators with a lived experience in these stories to share them.

Authentic Representation will be used to cast individuals who genuinely represent specific identities or experiences (a wheelchair user playing a wheelchair user)

Accessible Auditions and Performances will provide accommodations that remove barriers for performers and audiences.
Throughout, we aim to engage in robust artistic dialogue and create projects and productions where all feel heard, seen and valued. Where the stories and voices are sometimes messy or poignant and always complex and representative of the human experience we want to explore in the theatre.
